Attorney Richard M. Holt founded the firm now known as R. M. Holt, Inc. P.S. in Issaquah more than five decades ago. Since then, additional partners and a well-trained legal team have rounded out our firm. Attorney John Murphy now joins Mr. Holt in offering complete legal services to injured people, families and small businesses in the Issaquah area. Pam Hollenbeck, a legal assistant, has been with R. M. Holt, Inc. P.S. since 1990.

We are proud of our deep community roots and relationships in the East Side. Our lawyers are active in community organizations, local groups and area law associations. R. M. Holt was appointed and elected as a District Court Judge in King County. His judicial office was at North Bend, Washington. He has served as an Arbitrator and Judge Pro Tem. R. M. Holt was elected to the Snoqualmie Valley School Board District and served as its chairman.


R. M. Holt is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and East King County Bar Association; He is a former President of the East King County Bar Association. He served two terms as a member of the Board of Governors of the Washington State Trial Lawyers. He has been a member and chairman of the Washington State Committee for the Fund for Client Protection.


R. M. Holt was admitted to practice in all Washington Counties in September 1958. He was also admitted to practice before the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington and the United States and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1973.


R. M. Holt has a BA degree in business and law from the University of Washington that he received in 1956 and a Jurist Doctorate degree that he received from the University of Washington in 1958.














John K. Murphy, J.D. M. S., PA-C




    John K. Murphy has been a practicing attorney since 2002.  Prior to his work as an attorney, Mr. Murphy completed a 32 year career in the fire service retiring as a Deputy Fire Chief for Eastside Fire & Rescue (Issaquah WA) and Fire Chief of the City of Sammamish (WA). In his fire service career, he rose in the ranks from a firefighter/paramedic to Chief Officer with extensive experience in curriculum development and implementation of training programs, organization development, management and training of executive level managers, and health and safety programs.



Mr. Murphy’s practice areas include:

Mr. Murphy received a Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law, a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Education from Central Washington University and graduated from the University of Utah’s School of Medicine’s Physicians Assistant Program. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, King County Bar Association, the U.S. District Court/Western Division, and the American Bar Association



He is also a member of several fire service organizations promoting excellence in leadership; is past Chairman for the Overlake Hospital @ Issaquah Board of Advisors and the prior Secretary to the Board of Trustees for Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington.
